The Swaziland television authority gets educational program worth €2.24 million from the government of Japan

The Government of Japan supplies Educational Programmes to the Swaziland Television Authority for the purpose of contributing to the promotion of educational and cultural activities in the Kingdom of Swaziland.

A grant of up to 38.10 million Yen (€2.24 million) is to be extended to the Swaziland Television Authority. This grant will enable the Swaziland Television Authority to purchase educational programmes for the promotion of educational and cultural activities in the Kingdom of Swaziland.

The Signing Ceremony will take place at The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development in the Kingdom of Swaziland on Monday, 5 December 2005 at 10h00, and will be attended by H.E. Toshinori Shigeie, Ambassador of Japan and Rev. Absalom Muntu Dlamini, Honourable Minister of Economic Planning and Development.

The Government of Japan has been implementing the Cultural Grant Aid Programme since 1975 to assist cultural, educational and research activities in developing countries. In the Kingdom of Swaziland, Japanese Government supplied Visual equipment to the University of Swaziland in 1998 and Visual equipment to the National Museum and Cultural Village last year, as the Japanese Cultural Grant Aid.

The Swaziland Television Authority is one of the country’s television broadcasters and has one channel with multiple national repeaters. The Swaziland Broadcast Service is the country’s state-run national radio service and has three channels, one in the local language Siswati, one in English and one channel strictly for information services.
